HSDPA Launched in Cyprus
MTN has launched a HSDPA upgrade on its network in the Mediterranean Republic of Cyprus. At present, the service is only available in the Southern Cypriot capital, Nicosia, where there is an increased demand for mobile data communication; however, all cities will be able to enjoy the service in due time.
MTN's service portfolio is designed to serve and facilitate the subscribers' daily communication needs. "I would like to leave you once again with a promise that our "first in Cyprus" list will continue to grow", says Bassel Jamaleddine, CEO of MTN.
MTN Cyprus, having launched services in late 2004 ended Sept '07 with some 106,000 subscribers and according to the Mobile World database, a market share of 11.5%. Incumbent operator, CYTA takes the remainder of the customer base.
