Mediaset Sees No Short-Term Buys, No Projects in Telecoms

COLOGNO MONZESE, Italy -(Dow Jones)- Italy's largest private broadcaster, Mediaset, has no acquisition plans in the short term and doesn't have any projects planned in the telecommunications sector, Vice Chairman Pier Silvio Berlusconi said Wednesday ahead of a presentation to analysts.

Mediaset has recently been tipped as interested in a merger with Italy's largest telecoms operator, Telecom Italia.

Telecom Italia has already downplayed the speculation.
