E-Plus Awards Second 3G Contract This Week
Nokia Siemens Networks and Germany's mobile operator E-Plus Group have extended their frame cooperation to cover an expansion and upgrade of the E-Plus 3G radio network until 2010. Nokia Siemens Networks will expand E-Plus' radio access network by means of its Flexi Base Stations, according to the recently approved letter of intent. Nokia Siemens Networks also will provide the E-Plus Group with its microwave transmission equipment for the transport network.
"The E-Plus Group is a very significant and one of the most important customers for Nokia Siemens Networks in Europe," said Hartmut Mueller-Leitloff, a regional head at Nokia Siemens Networks. "The continuation of such kind of cooperation allows us to understand perfectly our customers' needs and to respond to their requirements with tailored, state-of-the-art solutions."
No financial details were provided.
Earlier this week, Ericsson also won a 3G upgrade contract with E-Plus. The deal also included the expansion and enhancement of the E-Plus microwave transmission network.
