Texting Leads to Accidents with Lamp Posts

A street in London, UK is to experiment with applying protective padding to lampposts, not to protect them - but to protect pedestrians who it seems, have a habit of walking into them while focusing on their mobile phones.

The pilot experiment is to start in London's East-End in the iconic Brick Lane - as that area was found to have the highest incidents of 'walking and texting' injuries in the country.

Local charity, London Living Streets, which campaigns for easier walking facilities teamed up with directory enquiries provider 118 118 to sponsor the project, which is probably hopefully just a publicity stunt.

A poll will be carried out on Brick Lane to gauge the response of locals. If successful, the concept will be rolled out in Birmingham, Manchester, and Liverpool.
