Orange and Cable&Wireless Announce National Roaming Deal

Orange UK and Cable&Wireless have announced a five-year partnership deal that will see Cable&Wireless enterprise fixed mobile convergence customers using the Orange mobile network for national roaming.

As a result of the agreement, Cable&Wireless FMC customers will be able to connect to the Orange mobile network when out of range of Cable&Wireless' own in-building IP Virtual Private Network. This will ensure they have telephone coverage while out of the office.

Orange already provides national roaming to Hutchison 3G's 4.1 million customers in the UK when they are out of reach of the 3 3G network.

Jim Marsh, CEO of Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia and USA said: "Our FMC service will enable Cable&Wireless to address a mobile corporate market, which is worth more an estimated £500m annually. Our customers are demanding mobile solutions that allow them to control their costs and increase productivity."
