T-Mobile Austria Returns 450Mhz License to Regulator
T-Mobile Austria has cancelled plans to launch a Flash-OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) network and has returned its 450Mhz license to the country's telecoms regulator. CEO Robert Chvatal announced the decision during the presentation of the full year financial results.
With HSDPA, T-Mobile Austria provides mobile broadband coverage nationwide in all cities and towns with more than 4,000 inhabitants. With Flash-OFDM, the company was expected to provide additional mobile broadband coverage to rural areas in the country using an IP-based network.
The conditions of the license required the company to commence construction of the network by the end of last year. The company paid EUR1.1 million for the license in 2006.
T-Mobile operates a Flash-OFDM network provided by Flarion Technologies in Slovakia in Oct 2005.
