Nigeria's Glo Mobile (Globacom) has expanded its HSDPA coverage to include the Lagos area following approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
In a press statement at the weekend, the operator said prepaid and postpaid subscribers with 3G phones on the network could now access the 3G Plus (HSDPA) services by sending a text message to their customer care department.
Glo Mobile said 3G Plus was available at Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki, Lagos Island, Murtala Mohammed Airport, Alaba, Ikeja Mainland and Surulere. It also said 3G Plus was available at Apapa, Berger, Egbeda, Ejigbo, Festac Town, Okota and Lagos State University.
Glo Mobile is the country's largest mobile operator by subscriber numbers - and according to figures from the Mobile World database, the company ended last September with just over 18 million customers, representing a market share of 41%.
