Alcatel-Lucent Wins Yemen GSM Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has won a EUR20 million (US$29 million) contract with MTN for the expansion of its GSM/EDGE network in Yemen. The contract includes core and radio network equipment, a microwave transmission system along with network integration and deployment services, radio network optimization and managed services.
Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will supply its ATCA-based Base Station Controllers (BSC) Evolution. Additionally, Alcatel-Lucent will supply its Twin TRX radio transceiver. Alcatel-Lucent also will supply a microwave transmission system, as well as high-capacity core switching and Intelligent Network extensions.
