Huawei PS-CN Helps Mobily Revs Up HSDPA Deployment
Huawei says it has been selected to provide Packet Switched Core Network (PS-CN) for HSDPA deployment of Mobily in Saudi Arabia. When completed, this will be one of the world's largest Packet Core installations and the company says that it is expected carry the highest data traffic of any network.
The success of Mobily's HSDPA network depends on carefully managing the data traffic and ensuring the safety and reliability of the user experience. To achieve these goals, Huawei will provide Packet Core solution with high-capacity and high-bandwidth, completely supporting the HSDPA deployment. The capabilities of the IP Packet Core will also allow Mobily to offer customized prepaid solution for local and roaming customers.
The converged architecture of the Huawei solution will also be used for existing 2G data services and will support future data network requirements as Mobily continues to enhance their network.
An officer from Mobily, stated: "This contract deepens the cooperation between Mobily and Huawei. Services based on our high-speed mobile network are important to our success in the highly competitive Saudi Arabian market. We're hopeful for PS-CN solution from Huawei and we look forward to the new capabilities that can offer excellent data services for our subscribers."
Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) is a Saudi public company managed by the multinational operator Etisalat who owns 35% of Mobily and is the second largest mobile operator in Saudi Arabia with seven million subscribers.
