The Memory Cards Market in Spain
2007 has proven another great year for memory cards sales in Spain after two really good years - at least in unit terms, according to figures from GfK. During the first eleven months of 2007, sales units increased by 37% and value decreased (for the first time in this market) by 6.2% compared to the same period in 2006.
According to GfK, the current market dynamics suggest a 25% (equivalent to 8.2 million memory cards) sales growth could be achieved in 2008 in Spain.
The 1 GB capacity class is currently the most important, taking more than a 52% share of the total market. The 2 GB category follows, with more than a 23% share in Spain.
However 4 GB is currently the category with the highest growth and this trend towards larger capacity memory cards is set to continue as demand for products such as high-spec. cameras and smartphones increases.
