Blueslice Networks says that it has won a contract from Russia's VimpelCom for new ngHLR and HSS kit to support its 3G network. VimpelCom, which operates under the "Beeline" brand, won its Russian 3G license in April 2007 and recently completed its 3G tender, awarding contracts to multiple vendors for access and core networks. Blueslice was selected as the sole vendor for ngHLR, which includes the next generation Home Location Register (HLR) and Home Subscriber Server (HSS).
The Converged Subscriber Platform 3000, which unites all these functions into one node, will allow VimpelCom to manage one common network database for all their subscribers.
Blueslice leveraged its global partnership with Ericsson to deliver the best complete solution. "This is an important deal for Ericsson and Blueslice. We got behind the Blueslice ngHLR because its next gen features fit well the demands of VimpelCom," said Zoran Lukovic, Vice President Ericsson Russia.
