DoCoMo Disolves WiMAX Joint Venture
In a brief statement this morning, Japan's NTT DoCoMo said that itself, ACCA Wireless and ACCA Networks have dissolved the strategic partnership that they established on August 31, 2007 for the purpose of securing a license to provide broadband wireless services based on mobile WiMAX technology.
DoCoMo said that since Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications granted the two available broadband wireless service licenses to other bidding groups on December 21, 2007, the strategic partnership was no longer relevant.
The WiMAX licenses were awarded last December to KDDI and Willcom, which is owned by U.S. investment fund Carlyle Group.
