Telenor Pakistan Reaches 15 Million Customers

Telenor Pakistan says that it has passed 15 million customers - a landmark it has achieved in less than three years of operations. The company says that in 2007, it grew nearly 200 percent in terms of customers, experiencing the highest growth in the industry in Pakistan by a wide margin compared to its competitors.

"Telenor Pakistan is obviously different from the competition. Our culture is different, our values are different, and our focus on business fundamentals is a little different as well. We are building core strengths and utilizing them better than anyone else at this point I believe."

Today we have the second largest network with the highest GPRS and EDGE capability, the most diverse products and services, the quickest growing distribution and one of the strongest organisations in the industry. Telenor Pakistan is fully involved with its key stakeholders and trusted as a friend of the community, "said a proud Tore Johnsen, CEO, Telenor Pakistan.

The company turned EBITDA positive in the second quarter of 2007.

According to figures from the Mobile World - based on last September - Mobilink had a market share of 41%, followed by Ufone (22%) and then Telenor (18%). The remainder is made up of niche operators.
