Faulty Phone Auto-Sends 4,700 Text Messages Overnight

A high-end mobile phone bought by Chinese college student in Tianjin municipality reportedly went berserk and sent out more than 4,700 text messages over the night of New Years Eve. The phone managed to tally up a bill of more than 300 yuan ($42) for its owner, reports China Daily.

The student, surnamed Yang, placed her new phone beside her on December 31 last year and woke up to the nasty surprise the next morning.

A technician who inspected her phone said it was faulty. The girl hoped to repair the phone for free but found out its warranty had expired.
