Huawei Deploys 8,000 Base Stations in Germany
China's Huawei is understood to have secured an undisclosed contract to install some 8,000 base stations in Southern Germany. An insider from Huawei confirmed the news to the SinoCast news agency, but the two companies have not released any information about the matter.
O2 originally contracted with Nokia and Nortel for its GSM infrastructure kit. The kit supplied by Nortel was later replaced by Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks.
The win comes shortly after the company won a core network contract with T-Mobile covering their European operations.
