UAE Planning Mobile TV Services by Mid-2008
The UAE's telecoms regulator, the TRA has said that it plans to issue licenses for Mobile TV services by the middle of this year. The regulator has hired a consultancy to advise on the licensing process and a report is expected next month.
Mohammed Al Ghanem director-general of Telecommunication Regulatory Authority told the Khaleej Times newspaper that it was premature to speculate as to when the operator would actually commence its service though.
Asked about status of VoIP services, Al Ghanem said that the TRA is still working on an internal study on the scope of the issue and a final decision is still to be taken.
