Chilean Watchdog Begins Process to Fix Mobile Interconnection Rates
Chilean telecoms watchdog Subtel has asked mobile companies to hand in proposals for revised interconnection rates among operators by January 18, local news service Emol reported.
The process to determine new interconnection rates will undergo different phases and a final decree is expected to be ready by January 2009, the newspaper said.
Meanwhile, the process to establish interconnection rates for fixed line telephony will start in April and is to conclude by May 2009.
Chile's mobile operators are Movistar Chile, of Spain's Telefónica, Entel PCS and Claro Chile, of Mexico's América Móvil.
