Tigo Expects its Subscriber Base to Grow 30% in 2008
Paraguayan mobile operator Telecel, which operates under the Tigo brand, expects to end 2008 with approximately 2.6mn subscribers compared to some 2mn forecast for end-2007, local newspaper La Nación reported company general manager Miguel Blasco as saying.
Telecel had 1.83mn subscribers at the end of the third quarter. According to the report, the Paraguayan mobile market is expected to end 2007 with 4mn subscribers and that amount is forecast to increase 20% by end-2008.
The executive said that Tigo expects to invest US$100mn in 2008, mainly in the expansion of its network.
Telecel is a unit of Luxembourg-based Millicom International Cellular.
