NewMarket Agrees to Deploy Wireless Broadband Solution in Curitiba
US systems integration company NewMarket Technology has signed an agreement with the cultural association of the southern Brazilian state of Paraná (APC) to deliver a municipal wireless broadband solution for local Universidad de Curitiba and its surrounding neighborhoods, NewMarket said in a statement.
The deployment will be a pilot program, which could be later expanded to other cities in the state, the company said.
NewMarket and APC are working closely with local power and telecoms company Copel to carry out the project.
"Copel will be a cornerstone in the expansion of the Curitiba solution to additional cities throughout Paraná. Copel sees the wireless broadband solution as a platform for delivering new technology solutions under development at Copel to home and business customers," NewMarket Latin America board member Frank Romanoski said.
The project is scheduled to be completed by end-February 2008.
NewMarket said that it has added US$7.5mn in new contracts so far in the fourth quarter. The company reported US$63.5mn in revenues for the nine months ended September 30, 2007 and $US2.8mn in net profit.
