T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel Settle Patent Lawsuit

Acacia Research Corp. says that its Contacts Synchronization subsidiary has entered into a license agreement with both T-Mobile USA and Sprint Nextel for rights to practice United States Patent No. 7,072,687, which discloses and claims technologies for synchronizing addresses between one device and another over a wireless communication network, in connection with the settlement of Sprint Nextel's part in the patent infringement lawsuit Civil Action No. 07-C-0250-C, filed in the Western District of Wisconsin in May of this year.

Terms of the agreement are confidential.

The company had filed a lawsuit against the two operators, as along with AT&T and Verizon Wireless claiming that they were infringing a patent it held which affected how handsets could back-up their data to remote servers.

Acacia Research says that it's subsidiaries develop, acquire, and license patented technologies. Acacia Research's subsidiaries control 86 patent portfolios, which include U.S. patents and certain foreign counterparts, covering technologies used in a wide variety of industries.
