3G Network Launched in Iceland

Last week saw the launch of another 3G network in Iceland - with the infrastructure supplied by Huawei Technologies. Acting on behalf of greenfield 3G mobile network operator Nova, Industria handled all key aspects of the project. The project was handled by INS Iceland, Industria's daughter company for network services, from the initial analysis phase and all the way through to the launch. This includes overall system integration, project management in various elements of the build-up, and providing a range of value-added services.

INS oversaw the 3G-wireless site acquisition and the fibre backbone interconnections, as well as assisting with the choice and installation of all core network systems and data centres, wireless transmission cells, masts and other equipment.

Only 3 months elapsed from the initial go-ahead to first system deployment.

"We are proud to deliver this turnkey project to Nova," said Gudjon Gudjonsson, Industria CEO. "Industria built a 3G network from the ground up, with the reliable network foundation and service delivery tools that enable Nova to leverage very high data throughput to bring high value, high bandwidth entertainment services to its subscribers."
