The Spanish mobile phone market has continued growing - by more than 5% in units in the first 3 quarters of 2007 reports the research house, GfK. Around 21 million mobile phones are sold yearly in Spain and the 3G market currently accounts for more than 30% of the total market.
GfK reports that smartphones are growing at a particularly high rate: +41% in Q3 2007 (vs. Q3 2006). The deployment of mobile mail services in companies, as well as multimedia/ agenda features offered by these devices to private consumers are key in the successful evolution of Smartphones.
Design has changed significantly in devices sold in 2007. When comparing Q3 2007 vs. Q3 2006, touch screen devices without a QWERTY keyboard have increased in market share from 28% to 50%. These devices are smaller than the traditional ones (with a complete QWERTY keyboard that is usually purchased by consumers for professional tasks).
