Marcelo Chimirri, head of Honduran state telco Hondutel, came out of hiding on November 14 to give testimony in court, local paper La Tribuna reported.
Police raided Chimirri's home on November 9 with an arrest order accusing him of abusing authority and spying on government officials.
Chimirri excused himself for not appearing in court earlier saying he had had "other things to attend to," according to the report.
"Marcelo has been hiding in Tegucigalpa resolving family problems and hasn't left the country," his lawyer Rosel Barralaga was quoted as saying. The attorney also rejected the charges brought against Chimirri saying that there was no evidence to support them, the report said.
The authorities claim to have evidence in the form of recordings, as well as various testimonies from Hondutel employees who say they were ordered to record conversations.
