Paraguayan mobile operator Personal has awarded Canadian wireless equipment firm Redline Communications a contract for additional infrastructure to expand its Hipuu! WiMax service, the vendor said in a statement.
Personal's goal is to reach 10,000 clients for this service by end-2007. According to Redline, the additional infrastructure will be deployed in capital Asunción and the greater Asunción area.
Personal, a unit of Argentine telecoms operator Telecom Argentina, originally signed Redline for initial rollouts of its WiMax network in May this year.
The second phase of the WiMax network is being deployed by a team that includes Personal, Brightstar, Cisco, Softnet Logicalis and Redline.
Redline's Redmax family of WiMax solutions includes a base station that supports voice, video and prioritized data traffic, enabling long-range, high-capacity wireless broadband networks. The Redmax management suite enables operators to monitor and control the network, ensuring high service availability.
