Vodafone Portugal Installs New OSS Platform from Amdocs

Vodafone Portugal has selected Amdocs' Operations Support Systems (OSS) to streamline its network resource and capacity management. Under the contract, Amdocs OSS solutions will support Vodafone Portugal's cellular networks (2G & 3G) and its new broadband DSL fixed line service.

"As Vodafone Portugal's network complexity increases, we need to ensure the effective management and control of our network resources, and this is key for the competitive launch of new services," said Ana Migueis, OSS engineering and support manager of Vodafone Portugal. "Vodafone Portugal selected Amdocs based on the strength of its proven Cramer OSS Portfolio in converged network providers, and for its capability to maximize network resource management."

When introduced, Amdocs' OSS solutions will include process re-engineering and automation, and the consolidation of multiple existing legacy systems on to a single, integrated OSS platform. Products from Cramer, Amdocs OSS Division, will enable Vodafone Portugal to manage its 2G and 3G underlying transmission networks which require increased operational investment as demand grows for data services. Vodafone Portugal can gain visibility into its network resources such as cards, circuits and devices, to ensure that sufficient network capacity is available to deliver services, and to quickly determine when capacity is exceeded and allocate additional network resources.

Vodafone Portugal will also use Amdocs OSS Solutions to manage the network roll out of its newly offered DSL broadband service, as well as to perform network resources allocation in the fulfillment process. Amdocs Cramer OSS Portfolio will enable Vodafone Portugal to model networks and physical network assets for a faster and accurate roll out.
