Sprite Mobile has launched an updated version of its Windows Mobile backup and recovery software, which overcomes a problem with Windows Mobile where it cannot recover encrypted data following a hard-reset. It also offers additional off-device content protection with its remote backup capability which allows backups to be sent over-the-air. Sprite Backup 6.1 also now provides smartphone owners a way to move their phone content to a replacement handset.
Sprite Backup is designed to create a backup image of your mobile device, including contacts, calendars, data, applications, configuration and settings.
"It is the application installation, configuration, and device settings that take the most time to reconfigure if you have to reset your device," said Sean Connolly, Chief Executive Officer of Sprite Mobile "PIM Synchronization only manages contacts, calendar entries, and some data, leaving hours of time and effort still required for the end user to restore their smartphone to its original state.
A Lite Edition of the software is also available and provides all of the on-device functionality including all of the Windows Mobile 6 features, but does not include remote backup capabilities.
