Mobile phone backup services provider, MobiComp says that it has won contracts with Syria's Syriatel and Yemen's Hi Tec. MobiComp's MobileKeeper Backup and Restore automatically backs up and restores all types of mobile data. The backup takes place over the air, with users easily able to recover, view and manage their saved data via a simple web interface providing a genuine convergence between mobile devices and the desktop.
Established in 2005 to provide innovative applications to the three mobile operators in the Yemen (MTN, Sabafon, Yemen Mobile), Hi-Tec will be offering a Backup and Restore service to every mobile user in the country. The service will be marketed by Hi-Tec and by MTN, Sabafon and Yemen Mobile.
MobileKeeper is a client/server platform based on open standards that supports a variety of device clients for Symbian S60/S80/UIQ, SIMCards, J2ME, Windows Mobile Smartphone and Pocket PC, Windows XP and Vista.
Carlos Oliveira, CEO of MobiComp, said: "All operators are looking for a 'killer app' that will drive data usage and revenues. Backup and Restore is well on the way to becoming a must-have for mobile users who want to protect their valuable data and content they have generated themselves."
