Sales of Low-Cost Sony Ericsson Handsets "Disappoint"
Sony Ericsson expects to ship some 1.5 million handsets this year in Taiwan, according to Steve Yeh, president of Sony Ericsson Taiwan. Citing in-house reports, he also said that the global shipments of the company's Cybershot camera-phones has exceeded 13 million units and that that shipments of the Walkman branded music-phones have passed the 45 million mark.
"The company also aims to push the number of its handset shipments in Taiwan to two million units in 2008, with its market share to hover at around 30% and to catch up the current number one vendor Nokia," Yey told the Taiwan based DigiTimes news publication.
Despite the success of the company's high-end handsets - sales of the lower
end models has disappointed the company said Yey.
