The SMS and MMS aggregator, Netsize says that it has published an information database module" mDevices", which contains handsets technical features and functionalities which can be accessed remotely and in real-time via an API/Web service.
Over 2500 mobile handsets are documented on mDevices today. For each handset, Netsize tests more than 160 features, taking into account screen size, video compatibility, musical formats etc. The information collected, by a dedicated team, is then integrated in a database comprised of 7 main themes: basic, connectivity, navigation, image, music, video, application.
On average, each month in close collaboration with 70 operators in Europe, Netsize enriches mDevices with 50 new mobile handsets.
"Optimising mobile browsing experience and product merchandising according to devices capabilities may sound trivial or obvious. However with close to 2,500 mobile handsets in the European market and couple hundred new models coming out each year, this information update can quickly become a nightmare for brands and merchants and be of crucial necessity if they wish to propose their consumers a compelling shopping experience on mobile", notes Renaud Menerat, marketing director of Netsize Entertainment Solutions.
