Israeli Operator Orders Fixed-Mobile Kit
Israel's Cellcom has ordered a package of landline services from Nokia Siemens Networks as the operator prepares to launch Fixed-Mobile services. Cellcom Israel, the biggest Israeli mobile phone operator with more than 2.9 million subscribers, has recently acquired licenses for managing voice and data on a fixed line.
A core and broadband access network will be delivered to the Israeli partner. The deal marks the first fixed network project for Nokia Siemens Networks in Israel.
The chosen solution is based on the SURPASS softswitch and hiX5625 Multi Service Access Nodes. For end-users, this translates into a seamless user experience across various access networks as their usage of services evolves.
"The partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks underlines Cellcom's strategy to extend its business into fixed line services in Israel. The solutions provided by Nokia Siemens Networks offer high quality infrastructural guarantees essential to the development of Cellcom's fixed network as the company needs to offer its customers such technological solutions, which will help meet growing demand for voice and data traffic." stated Lipa Ogman, CTO Cellcom Israel.
