BBT Launches Wireless VoIP Service Nationwide
Argentine ISP BroadBandTech (BBT) has launched a wireless internet telephony service nationwide, local daily El Cronista reported.
The service, which includes a local prefix, enables the client to make calls from any Wi-Fi hotspot.
According to the report, the service, which is called BBtel, will offer customers 80% savings on telephony calls compared to traditional telephony. BBT said the service works with a minimum broadband capacity of 35Kbps. The service requires the use of a Linksys WIP300 telephone.
BBT also has a presence in Brazil, offering internet in the city of Vitoria, in the eastern state of Espirito Santo.
The company expects revenues to grow around 100% in 2007 compared to the 7mn pesos (US$2.3mn) seen in 2006, CEO Carlos Morea previously told BNamericas.
Headquartered in Buenos Aires, BBT launched operations in 2001 and offers triple play services.
