DoCoMo, ACCA Networks: To Tie to Get Broadband Service License
TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- NTT DoCoMo and ACCA Networks said Friday they would team up to apply for permission from the Japanese government to launch next-generation wireless Internet services.
The companies said they would form a joint venture, ACCA Wireless Co. which is to be recapitalized for Y72 billion. Of that amount, DoCoMo will invest about Y19 billion and ACCA Networks will invest about Y30 billion.
The companies said they will seek additional partners.
The Japanese government has stipulated that existing operators of high-speed mobile services can only invest up to one-third of the total capital in companies applying for such licenses.
