VimpelCom Extends Harris Stratex Networks Wireless Transmission Supply Contract
Harris Stratex Networks says that Russia's VimpelCom has extended its contract with the company to supply microwave transmission solutions for its mobile infrastructure build-out through the end of 2008. VimpelCom extended its contract for Harris Stratex Networks to supply its Eclipse Super-PDH and SDH transmission solutions to specific regions within Russia. The majority of the contract is for Eclipse, a nodal wireless networking platform for native Ethernet and TDM traffic.
VimpelCom will use Eclipse's Super-PDH networking capability, a Harris Stratex Networks innovation that supports nodal network architectures and makes backhaul networks more cost-effective.
"The contract extension is a testament to our continued performance as a supplier and to the performance of the Eclipse transmission system in the Russian mobile environment," said Andrew Zmuda, vice president, Sales, Europe, Middle East and Russia, at Harris Stratex Networks. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue to support VimpelCom's growing mobile network, while continuing to expand our footprint in the Russian market."
