Poland's Polkomtel 2Q Net Profit PLN356.6 Million, Up 34% On Year
WARSAW -(Dow Jones)- Polish mobile telephone operator Polkomtel SA said Monday it made a second-quarter net profit of 356.6 million zloty ($129 million), up 34% from PLN265.6 million in the same period of last year.
The company also said its net profit in the first six months of 2007 was PLN631.4 million, up 25% on the year.
Polkomtel's total revenue was PLN1.93 billion in the second quarter, up 5.5% from PLN1.83 billion in the same three months of 2006.
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, was PLN736.6 million in the second quarter, up 22% from PLN602.5 million a year earlier.
Polkomtel is an unlisted company, whose shareholders include energy firm PKN Orlen (PKN.WA), copper producer KGHM Polska Miedz SA (KGH.WA), Vodafone Group PLC (VOD) and TDC A/S (TLD), each with a 19.6% stake. Polish power grid company Polskie Sieci Elektronergetyczne owns a 17.6% stake in Polkomtel, and coal trader Weglokoks has 4%.
