Onetouch Introduces First Mobile TV Service in Ghana
The GSM network operator, Ghana Telecom - trading as Onetouch in partnership with Black Star TV says that it has launched a mobile TV service, the first on the Ghanaian market, with offerings of 6 TV channels, 4 Radio and 2 Data channels. Onetouch customers will need an appropriate handset - selected mobile phone models or any T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) handset and terminal to use the service.
The T-DMB handsets and terminals will be available at the Ghana Telecom Care4U Centres at Accra North and Tema from October 2007, the month for the official roll-out of the service.
The first phase of the service will cover Greater Accra and Ashanti regions, and then spread nationwide soon after.
Statistics from the Mobile World subscriber database notes that Ghana Telecom has just over 1 million mobile phone customers, giving it a market share of 19%."
