Curitiba Police Select Motorola for Modernization Project
The Curitiba metropolitan police force has awarded US equipment manufacturer Motorola a contract as part of a 2mn-real (US$1mn) project to modernize its communications systems, tech news service B2B reported.
Motorola will supply Curitiba's police with radio handsets to be carried by personnel or installed in vehicles, as well as equipment to enable radio coverage across large areas.
The project includes adaptation of the police force's analog radio system to convert it to a digital system, and Motorola will also provide equipment to monitor and record phone conversations.
"The digital system allows clearer communications between officers on the beat and HQ," Eduardo Kamigauti, sales director of Motorola Brasil's networks and enterprise team, was quoted as saying.
Motorola also implemented a dispatch solution with 13 positions to connect the metropolitan police HQ with other services such as the fire brigade, civil police and military police in the city."
