GlobeTel Installs Wi-Fi for Mexico City Neighborhood
South Florida-based IP solutions company GlobeTel Communications has installed a Wi-Fi network serving 8,000 homes in the Mexico City suburb of Tizayuca, the company said in a statement.
GlobeTel had to deploy a 30km backhaul link originating from a wireless network already installed in the city of Pachuca, Hidalgo state, to service customers in Tizayuca's Rancho Don Antonio neighborhood.
Internet connectivity was delivered utilizing three 5.8 Ghz point-to-point microwave links including a single 20km microwave hop The last mile network consists of point-to-multipoint connections for a 2.4 Ghz hotspot based on the 802.11b Wi-Fi standard.
Globetel recently finalized a joint venture with Mexican VoIP company VPN de México to offer VoIP services over a Wi-Fi network."
