Nokia Faces Lawsuit over Spelling Errors on Handsets

A Chinese lawyer, Wang Yingde says that he will join a lawsuit against Nokia for alleged spelling errors in their Chinese handsets if the company does not apologize and pay compensation.

Last month, a consumer surnamed Zhang reported to Chinese media that he had found more than 30 wrong or misspelled characters on Nokia's Chinese handsets.

Wang has told the local ChinaTechNews that he will now provide legal aid to an ongoing lawsuit over the matter, and ask Nokia to make an apology for the incorrect characters plus pay RMB315 in compensation. The numbers 315 are symbolic of March 15, which is World Consumer Rights Day.

Nokia though, has told local media that there are no quality problems with their mobile phones and that there is no need to recall the handsets."
