Redline Wins Mozambique WiMAX Contract

Redline Communications has announced that Teledata de Mozambique, Lda, which is jointly owned by Telecomunicacoes de Mocambique (TDM) and Portugal Telecom, has expanded its RedMAX-based WiMAX network in four cities in Mozambique to deliver fixed and portable broadband services to businesses and residents.

Teledata Mozambique originally installed Redline's RedMAX WiMAX Forum Certified systems in Maputo and Beira, the country's two largest cities. In March, the company expanded its network to bring WiMAX to the cities of Matola and Nampula to serve enterprise customers. The next deployment stage will include the introduction of user self-installable RedMAX Indoor Subscriber Units that will enable customers to benefit from nomadic and limited portable WiMAX services.

"The response to the initial launch of our WiMAX network was tremendous. In just 11 months, more than 800 businesses and residents subscribed to our WiMAX broadband services," said Luis Filipe de Lucas Mhula, Chief Executive Officer, Teledata Mozambique.

The planning and installation of the Teledata Mozambique network was managed by RapidCloud Technology, a South African systems integrator specializing in WiMAX systems."
