Nokia Could Import Indian Handsets into its Homeland Territory

Finland, home to Nokia could one day end up importing Nokia handsets from India - says the deputy director general in the Finnish ministry of trade and industry. Nokia has a US$150 million manufacturing factory in India, at Chennai which started production last January.

"I can foresee a situation where Nokia begins sourcing more expensive models (from its Chennai facility) for European and US markets and less expensive ones for Asia and the Middle East," Matti  Pietarinen told IANS in an interview in Hesinki.

The manufacturing facility in Chennai is Nokia's fifteenth manufacturing facility globally."
