Mobile TV Trials in Jersey

Jersey's mobile phone users will soon be able to watch TV on their phones, wherever they are, as Jersey Telecom and its technology partner, Alcatel are planning to trial a new mobile phone television service later this year. The service uses DVB-SH technology to bring streaming TV to Jersey for the first time.

Jersey Telecom's Head of Home and Small Business Solutions, Yannick Fillieul, says: "This is the future for mobile technology, people want to access more feature rich content no matter where they are and their mobile is the most convenient device to do this. Being able to watch live TV such as, news, sport or daytime programmes on your mobile, puts the customer in control, allowing them to choose when and where to watch.

"At Jersey Telecom, we always aim to provide our customers with access to the latest technologies and with DVB-SH compatible handsets expected to be on the market by January next year, our customers will be among the first in Europe to benefit from this new service." "
