Israel Confirms 3G Auction for Next Year
The Israeli communications ministry has confirmed that it intends to offer a series of 3G licenses in the first quarter of next year, using an auction to award the licenses. It is notable that not the entire planned 3G spectrum will be available until 2005, suggesting a staggered awards process over several years. However, the Israeli parliament, the Knesset has insisted that the ministry let them study any proposals before they are enabled in order to ensure that customers are not penalised by high costs."
