TeliaSonera Finland and Digita have signed an agreement on the provision of broadband services using Digita's @450 broadband network. Digita's wireless newtwork is Flash-OFDM technology based and operates in the 450Mhz spectrum band.
Sonera will start a three-month test period of service provision at the beginning of June. The agreement now concluded aims at seamless cooperation between the network operator and the service provider to provide customers with the services they need.
"Our special focus in the cooperation is to provide services to municipalities with a lot of holiday cottages, to the archipelago and to such scarcely-populated areas where Digita's network supplements Sonera's broadband offering. According to our recent trend survey, more than half of the people in Finland want to use wireless Internet at their summerhouses or at hotels, which goes to show that apart from regular residents, people at leisure also have an obvious need for broadband services. Extensive broadband services make it possible to do productive work also outside the office," says Juha-Pekka Weckström.
Digita's wireless @450 broadband network, opened at the beginning of April, now covers an area in the Helsinki-Turku-Tampere axis in South Finland and an area from Oulu to Vuotso."
