Further revelations from a recent T-Mobile UK study into mobile phone use has found an increasing use of the mobile internet to check the "internet profile" of romantic dates. Almost half of the people surveyed use mobile Internet to do detective work on dates. A choosy 14% admitted that they would then ditch their date if they found something about them online that they didn't like the look of.
Social guru, Jenni Trent Hughes comments: "The social networking aspect of the mobile Internet is evolving. People are now using the web on their mobile to learn more about someone they have just met in a bar by checking out their online profiles. Unfortunately, if your profile is less than flattering, you could find yourself ditched in a matter of seconds as your digital walk of shame catches up with you."
The research also found that obsessed with getting an online hit, more than a third of people are using the Internet on their mobile phones in bed. With many also admitting to Googling those crucial facts like "who's that actor in this film I'm watching?" when in front of the TV, rather than fire up their PC. Research showed 48% of people are also using the Internet on public transport to arrange their social lives, from checking out photos and blogs posted by friends, to searching for and buying tickets for your favourite bands."
