Firefox Considering Mobile Web Browser
The Mozilla Foundation is reported to be considering developing a mobile phone version of their Firefox web browser. Mozilla Foundation CEO, Mitchell Baker, in a interview with APC Magazine said that the not-for-profit organisation would look at developing a mobile client, but not for some time yet.
Baker said "We had a small project looking at it but we decided that the right thing to do is to look first at the technology and look at our core technology and really tune it so that it's best suited for that. We are at work on that now, however it will take a while."
She added, "We are also looking at how to reflect the richness of the entire web on a small device with the current constraints and that one we don't know."
Norway's Opera Software has been the main player in porting their PC based web browser to the mobile phone and says that it's browser has been shipped on more than 50 million handsets to date."
