Antel to Provide Wi-Fi Services in Engineering Faculty

Uruguayan state-run telco Antel has signed an agreement with local Universidad de la República to provide a Wi-Fi service for the engineering faculty, the government said in a statement.

The agreement lasts an initial three years but is not the only joint communications initiative Antel and the university's engineering department are involved in.

Other projects include the development of a monitoring system for Antel's transmission network, a network performance management system and a security and encryption project.

The two entities are also jointly developing a Latin American telecommunications research center. The center's resources would be available not only for operators but also for companies that develop software for the telecommunications industry."
