Paper: TSTT Agrees to Better Interconnection with Digicel
Incumbent telcoms operator Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago (TSTT) has obeyed a court order to ensure better interconnection with its main competitor, the local unit of Caribbean mobile holding group Digicel, daily The Trinidad Express reported.
The agreement follows a pivotal court decision in February that TSTT must do more to interconnect Digicel's calls onto TSTT's network.
TSTT must also provide Digicel engineers with access to its database to allow Digicel to search for evidence that TSTT was sabotaging connections coming from its network.
The two companies have been locked in a bitter legal struggle centered on interconnection agreement legalities since Digicel's entry into the market in June 2005.
The lawsuit was filed in November of last year."
