Movistar Expects to Sell 50,000 BlackBerry Pearl Devices in 2007"
Venezuelan mobile company Movistar, owned by Spanish giant Telefónica, expects to sell 50,000 BlackBerry Pearl handheld devices this year, local press reported company president Luis Malvido as saying.
The device features include email, text and multimedia messaging, instant messaging, personal organizer, browser, ringtones, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, multimedia player and a mini UBS port.
Movistar launched BlackBerry Pearl this year for its postpaid clients.
BlackBerry Pearl also has an internet service, which allows access to up to 10 supported email accounts, including most popular ISP email accounts.
Canadian wireless equipment provider Research in Motion is the owner of the BlackBerry brand.
Movistar Venezuela ended 2006 with 8.8mn subscribers, with postpaid clients totaling 469,400."
