China's Jan-Feb Mobile Phone Output 88.89 Million Units; Up 35%
BEIJING -(Dow Jones)- China's production of mobile phones in January and February rose 35% from a year earlier to 88.89 million units, according to data from the Ministry of Information Industry.
The increase in mobile-phone production in the first two months was slower than last year's 58% growth.
China produced 18.12 million personal computers in January and February, up 29% from a year earlier and faster than the 16% rise for the whole of 2006.
Many global companies, including Motorola and Nokia, have located plants in China, which is also home to local manufacturers like ZTE and Huawei Technologies.
