Movistar Signs VoluBill to Provide Charging Platform

Venezuelan mobile company Movistar, owned by Spanish giant Telefónica, has signed European data charging solutions provider VoluBill to deploy its "Charge it" platform, the latter said in a statement.

The platform is designed to enable Movistar to roll out differentiated charging for browsing, multimedia messaging service and content services.

This contract is the first deal for VoluBill in Latin America.

"VoluBill's technology will enable Movistar to maximize revenues and reduce costs by offering the operator the capability to accurately charge for all prepaid and postpaid data services from a single platform," VoluBill's CEO John Aalbers said.

The executive added that the solution would enable the operator to provide high levels of on demand customer service and accurately charge for all types of network traffic.

Founded in 2001, VoluBill provides data charging, control and monitoring solutions to telecoms operators worldwide."
